Aidi

(Chien de l’Atlas) (Atlas Sheepdog) (Atlas Mountain Hound)

Mack my Aidi, waiting to continue on our walk.

"Mack my male, Aidi at 1 year old, waiting to continue on our walk. His coat color is tri-color brown, white, and tawny. His eyes are gold, with brown in the center. He stands at 52 cm, and weighs 55 pounds (25 kg.). He is energetic and highly protective. Mack is a cute, spunky young boy who always has a "smile" on his face. He is very friendly but still testy around people he doesn't know. He loves pillows and likes to lay his head on your stomach. He likes his play-dates with his dog pals, and he likes getting kisses and hugs from the family. He likes walks, bellies, christmas, getting praised, family, flowers, friends, music, spring-time, stars, scooby snacks, the outdoors, climbing rocks, bathtime, sleeping by the window, chasing things, playing hide 'n seek, watching tv, going on trips in the car. He dislikes, the vet, car horns, resting on walks, thunderstorms, being locked up in his kennel, getting thorns in his paws, bigger dogs, people on bicycles, motorcylces, getting told to get off the couch. Some of his good habits are, he knows how to fetch and bring objects back, he is house broken, he knows different objects, he knows his name, he knows what no means, and is very well trained. Mack has a tendancy to get into the garbage, he has a favorite spot on the couch but he isn't allowed up there when we have company. Mack is a energetic dog, and loves to go for long daily walks. And he doesn't like it much when I stop and rest, pulling on his leash and wanting to go still."

Description

The Aidi is lean and muscular. It has a heavy plumed tail and medium-sized ears that are tipped forward. Their jaws are strong with tight black or brown lips. The eyes are medium, with a dark color and dark rims. The Aidi has a tapered muzzle with a black or brown nose that usually matches the coat. The coat of the Aidi is course, thick and weather resistant. Coat colors include black, white, black and white, tawny and pale red.

Temperament

Energetic and highly protective, the Aidi is a flock guard, used to protect herds of sheep and goats. It also makes a good hunting and scent dog, which is typical of a mountain dog. It is powerful, agile, alert, and ready for action. Makes a very good guard and watchdog, however, is not a breed for everyone. They need an owner who knows how to remain alpha dog, and need a job to do, preferably as a flock guard. As a sensitive breed, the dog should receive kind yet firm training.
