 Japanese Chin / Pug Hybrid

The Japug is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Japanese Chin and the Pug. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. This hybrid cross is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

Bert and Ernie, Japugs at 10 years old

"The three dogs lying in the grass are Japanese Chin/Pug mixes. They are 10-year-old brothers from the same litter and their names are Bert, Ernie, and Teddy. Their father, a purebred Pug named Pugsley, is standing up in the picture. Their mother was a full Japanese Chin. They all have great temperaments, craving lots of love, companionship, and belly rubs. They don't like excitement or loud people. They shy away from children but love senior citizens. They don't tolerate long walks well, due to their short nose. They get winded after about 10 minutes. They are wonderful companions!"

They are well-mannered dogs with great temperaments. They don't like loud noises or loud children. They prefer snuggling up with me in peace and quiet. They crave human attention. I can't leave the room without them following right along!"
